London Day Camp

The London Day Camp project 2016 was a week of fun and educational activities for children from families in need in the London Borough of Newham.

This project was led, as usual, by Sr Kathleen Colmer and she was ably assisted by our Youth Worker, Zaz Durrant and a team of adult and student volunteers. Some 26 children participated in the project and our 5 student volunteers were drawn from St Angela’s Ursuline School, Brentwood Ursuline School and the Ursuline High School, Wimbledon.

It was a very enjoyable week for all and the student volunteers showed great leadership qualities with their groups. Activities included arts & crafts, a flower-arranging workshop led by Sr Maureen Moloney, sports sessions led by Hannah Shepherd, two drama workshops, cake making and decorating and lots of fun and games.

We are very grateful to all our adult volunteers, who supported so generously with their time and expertise and to all the donors, whose financial contributions made this project possible.

Sr. Kathleen Colmer

I have been an Ursuline Sister for more than forty years. My ministry has
been in education, mostly in East London.

I retired from teaching in 2009 and spent some months in the USA and India.
It was during this time that I felt I’d like to do something for young adults
who I know are full of enthusiasm and generosity.

I had belonged to the sodality in my late teens and found it most enriching.
Projects which combined prayer and service would give the sodality a
modern slant. So, in summer 2010 Ursuline Links was born!
